Season Three – Externlism
Colossians 2:20-23 If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion”“and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence. NASB
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 10 who in time past were no people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Father (Abba) Speaks
There are many of My people who are involved in externalism (excessive concern with outer circumstances or appearances. Attention paid to outward or outside matters, especially in religious affairs (The Free Dictionary) of one form or another.
There is an inability in some of My people’s hearts to accept and appropriate the completed works of Jesus (Yeshua) My Son. They are in effect saying that His death and resurrection was not sufficient to bring them into the fullness of the promises that are made throughout scripture especially the minor prophets in the Old Testament.
The Messianic Jews in Jerusalem were the prime advocates of this externalism. They simply could not accept the unconditional love and grace poured out upon them. They refused to depart from the religious traditions and practices. They were simply terrified to throw themselves with reckless abandon on the leading of Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) who was making all things new.
They refused to give it up, and as a result they eventually lost the power and the purpose and the beauty of what I wanted to do in their midst. My Son did away with it all so that they could, for the first time in their lives, be free to worship Me with their whole lives. Not just on the Sabbath or a Sabbath but all the time.
They were to become My nation of priests 1 Peter 2:9 WEB observing a perpetual Sabbath to Me, but they became afraid and drew back to the comfort of things familiar. It was My plan and purpose that, with the coming of Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), they would have within them the very presence and holiness of God (Yahweh). They no longer needed to worship Me in Jerusalem or on a Sabbath, as I was within them to bless them through all and in all of life.
I finished with externalism at the cross and it saddens Me when My children continue to seek Me by the observance of laws, as I am not a legalistic God. The life they lead will be but a shadow of the glorious existence I planned for them. Externalism is a barrier to all the workings of My Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), as it is a dependence upon laws and the mind, and does not accept the leading and work of Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh).
